Ruttle Contracting contributed to Lancaster University’s Net Zero initiative by supporting the construction of a new Low Carbon Energy Centre. This facility is part of the university’s £57 million investment to decarbonise its Bailrigg campus, aiming to virtually eliminate gas heating through state-of-the-art heat pump technology .
Our scope of work commenced with the removal of invasive species from the site, which were transported to an approved facility. Subsequently, we executed a cut-and-fill operation, addressing green waste and historic tree stumps. Inert waste was removed off-site, and 6F5 material was imported to form and compact piling mats. We provided a permanent machine on hire alongside the piling rig for piling attendance. Upon completion of the piling works, we removed the pile mats and transported the material to our recycling facility for processing and reuse.
Further, we graded embankments along the public footpath and imported topsoil using our tipper wagons. This topsoil was laid and landscaped across public open space (POS) and embankment areas. Additionally, we installed a land drain to ensure proper site drainage.
