We were engaged to transform a decommissioned railhead into a vital access route for a new housing development. Our team commenced by cutting embankments and compacting materials to establish a stable road foundation. We sourced Toprock as an engineered fill material, ensuring uniform compaction using rollers to meet engineering specifications. Additionally, we constructed and compacted the full footpath formation, providing safe pedestrian access throughout the site. The embankments on either side were landscaped and topsoiled, then seeded with grass to enhance the site’s aesthetic and environmental quality. A notable feature of the project was the restoration of original train wheels discovered on-site. We preserved these historical artifacts by creating a display that commemorates the site’s railway heritage, blending past and present in the development’s landscape.
