A Tribute to Our Friend and Colleague – Craig Sumner

On the 21st of June, we said a heartfelt goodbye to our friend and colleague, Craig Sumner. Craig worked with Ruttle as an escort driver for three years, playing a vital role in safely guiding some of our heaviest and widest loads across the country.

During his time with us, Craig became more than just a colleague—he was a true friend to many, known for his warmth, humour, and dedication. Tragically, Craig passed away at just 48 years old after a short and aggressive battle with cancer.

Craig was not only an important part of the Ruttle team, but also a devoted family man whose loss has deeply affected everyone who knew him. To honour his memory in a way that reflected the impact he had on all of us, we joined his funeral procession with a full convoy of our low loaders, led by Craig’s escort van—a tribute we know he would have appreciated.

We extend our sincere thanks to our entire team, and to former colleagues Jason and Dave, who joined us in their own wagons to help give Craig the send-off he truly deserved. His presence will be greatly missed, but his memory will always remain a part of the Ruttle family.
